About Right Side Out

Our Mission

Right Side Out was started by Erin with the desire to bring three characteristic to women's clothing that she believed is often lacking: Joy, personal expression, and fit.

As a tall women, Erin started experiencing as a teen that most clothing wasn't built to fit her body. Over the years she learned this wasn't a unique experience to her and that so many women struggle to find clothing that fits their body and personality, let alone finding pieces that bring joy to their day.

Right Side Out's mission is to make custom clothing accessible to more women, so that they can experience clothing that truly speaks to who they are and enjoy their clothing. Women's bodies are all so unique, yet so many women feel clothing custom made for their bodies is unattainable because of price, difficult processes, or just the societal expectation that it is inaccessible. Right Side Out changes that by offering customizable pieces at more affordable prices. We welcome all people regardless of their background, shape, or style.

Our joy is creating custom clothing that makes people like you feel seen and excited about your style.

Erin Leddy

Designer & Owner

Erin found a passion for sewing and design early. As a fourth generation seamstress, her skill was first guided by her mother and grandmother. From first sewing a pillowcase at 10 to her first custom design as a teenager, she has now been sewing and designing for over 20 years.

While Erin finds delight in beautiful fabrics and the challenge of constructing a design, her greatest joy comes from creating garments that make people feel amazing in their body. Erin, like many people, understands the feeling of her body not fitting into standard-sized clothing. She’s tall and regularly has to make wardrobe compromises. As a seamstress, she's witnessed firsthand that there's no such thing as a "normal" sized body and believes no one should feel shame for not fitting perfectly into a “standard” sized garment. Her ideology is that garments should be made to fit our body, rather than feeling our body has to shift to the garment.

Along with attention to form, Erin's design style celebrates joy in clothing, calling back to the happiness children experience when picking out their favorite garment. She takes inspiration from children's storybooks and art, infusing her designs with creativity and vibrancy. The freedom and liveliness of storybooks by Maurice Sendak and Anne Mazer's The Salamander Room make these books some of Erin's favorites. Using this child-like joy as her guide, Erin combines timeless silhouettes with bold colors, lively prints, and rich textures to create designs that compliment the figure and bring forward the personality of her client.

Every client’s individual shape and personality is a wonderful challenge to create a new and purely unique work of art. Work with Erin to create something one of a kind, or get a taste of the couture experience for a more affordable price with our customizable collection.
