Unlisted Fabric Recommendations for The Flowy Mikaela Dress: Floral Edition

One of my favorite activities as a seamstress is imagining a dress in an array of fabrics. I flip through a fabric site or walk through the fabric store and I can picture the style in the fabric so clearly in my head.

However, I know this isn’t how everyone's brain functions. So rather than leave everything to your imagination, I’ve pulled together 5 unlisted fabric combinations for the flowy Mikaela dress, floral edition.

Unlisted meaning these primary fabrics are not listed on the Mikaela’s product page; they are fabrics I have come across in the wild that I would love to see the Mikaela created in.

1. Bright Floral Twill with Baby Blue Cotton

This floral print is vibrant and happy, and the baby blue brings out the brightest spots. The floral is a medium lightweight flowy viscose twill and the baby blue is a double cotton gauze.

4. Green Georgette and Peach Gauze

This floral print is sweet and feminine, while the peach double gauze fabric adds to the whimsy. The floral is a lightweight rayon and the peach is a midweight, but flowy cotton.

2. Fern Challis & Antique Gold Charmeuse

This fern challis is subdued, while the gold ads an ethereal effect. Both materials are flowy and lightweight. The challis is 100% rayon and the charmeuse is 100% polyester

3. Bright Lawn and Navy Cotton

This floral lawn fabric is bright and modern, while the navy adds some seriousness. The lawn is a mid-lightweight fabric, while the navy has more structure making it a good accent material. Both are 100% cotton.

5. Wildflower Dobby & Wine Challis

The green wildflower print feels vintage and playful, while the navy tone down the busy print. The dobby is a mid-lightweight fabric made from 100% viscose. The challis is lightweight fabric made from 100% rayon.

If you saw a combo that you loved, or even just a primary fabric you’d want the Mikaela dress in, reach out. These fabrics at the time of publishing this post are all available and would not be an additional charge when creating the dress. If you want the Mikaela in a unique fabric but you’re not sure what, reach out and we’ll help you find something. Like I said, picturing a dress in an array of fabrics is one of my favorite activities.
